Launch of the Fondasyon Klere Ayiti Creative Workshop Project.

On Tuesday, January 28, 2020, in the presence of the Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Haiti, Mr. Bang Zyh Liu, the Managing Director of Electra Sewing, Mr. Jean Robert Lebrun, the Director of Sonapi, Stéphane Durand and other personalities, the First Lady of the Republic of Haiti, Mrs. Martine Moïse, launched the Fondasyon Klere Ayiti Creative Workshop Project.

At a time when technical and manual trades are increasingly neglected in the country, it is important for Fondasyon Klere Ayiti to stimulate and encourage creativity within our youth, which can help reduce unemployment and benefit the Haitian economy.

This creative workshop is made possible by the great fabrics contribution of the Taiwanese Wu Thun-Chih Foundation and the support of the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan), in Haiti. More than fifty young people from several neighborhoods in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince will receive training in sewing and creative arts (embroidery, painting, patchwork, recovery, etc.) from the company Electra Sewing.

Speaking on the occasion, the Taiwanese Ambassador accredited in Haiti, Mr. Bang Zyh Liu, said that he is impatient to see the positive impact of this training in the future. On his side, the Director of Electra Sewing, Mr Jean Robert Lebrun, promised to provide  quality training that would ensure the participants a better position on the employment market.

Addressing the participants, the First Lady has started her speech with a Haitian Creole proverb.

"I have come here today to tell you: Men goch, ak men dwat nou, ansanm kapab asire lavni nou. I would  like to see you grow in a way that when the greatest Haitian fashion designers such as Helmer Joseph, Maelle David, Phelicia Dell, Murielle Leconte have retired, that you are the one to replace them. I count on you, the foundation counts on you, your mother, Ayiti also counts on you." That was the First Lady's words of encouragement to the workshop applicants.
